Ellington Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Cheerleading Coach for the Winter season. The ideal candidate will lead, mentor, and motivate our cheerleading team, helping students develop their cheerleading skills, teamwork, and school spirit. The coach will be responsible for planning practices and routines that engage all team members while promoting safety and school values.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee cheerleading practices from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM on weekdays.
- Develop routines, cheers, and choreography for team performances at school events and games.
- Foster a supportive, positive, and inclusive environment for all team members.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during practices and performances.
- Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and school spirit both on and off the field.
- Communicate effectively with school administration, parents, and athletes about schedules, goals, and expectations.
- Attend all scheduled home games and events where the cheerleading team performs.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in cheerleading, either as a coach or athlete, is required.
- Previous experience working with middle school students is preferred.
- Ability to teach cheerleading techniques, including stunts, tumbling, and choreography.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Connecticut Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be able to commit to the winter season schedule
