The City of Waco Seeks:
The City of Waco is seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Heavy Equipment Operator - CDL to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating various heavy machinery. This role requires a strong focus on leadership, safety, precision, and reliability to ensure smooth operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years experience in heavy equipment operations in all types of road maintenance
- Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License is required at the time of interview. Tanker endorsement will be required within 180 days of employment
- Specialized training and licensing upon hire required
Position Description:
Under general supervision, leads a field crew operating specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment in support of street, roadway, and infrastructure maintenance within the Streets Division of the Public Works Department.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates the activities of a work crew repairing and maintaining streets, roadways, and infrastructure; estimates materials required for assignments, stages, materials and equipment, assigns work and operates specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment; duties may vary according to job assignment.
- Inspects vehicles, equipment and tools; repairs, maintains and adjusts equipment; maintains daily work logs; trains work crew and controls work projects to assure that safety rules and regulations are followed; established the work zone and enforces compliance with all safety regulations and PWD procedures; recognizes, avoids and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with resident, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work related issues and City information.
- May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City wide emergency.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
