The Behavioral Specialist provides direct clinical services, including rapid crisis response and coordination for the School Based Program. This professional works under the direct supervision of a licensed clinician and supports individuals through case coordination, therapeutic education services, and crisis intervention. The role may also assist in orienting new staff on non-clinical matters as deemed appropriate by program leadership. Excellence in client care and compassion in every encounter is essential and aligns with BHSN’s mission and core values.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 3:30PM

What your day might look like:
Provides direct clinical services within legal scope, including individual, family, and group therapy, and crisis intervention
Conducts initial evaluations, identifies critical impairments, and develops treatment plans tailored to individual client needs
Prepares and presents treatment strategies and plans to the treatment team and consumers
Participates in care coordination and planning meetings to support effective and integrated service delivery
Responds to individuals experiencing immediate crisis to reduce unnecessary emergency room visits and inpatient admissions
Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Your skills and qualifications:
Associate degree or 3–5 years of experience in a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred
Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
Knowledge of substance use issues, including signs/symptoms, intervention strategies, and medical considerations
Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local/regional travel
