Job Description:SUMMARY:
Under general supervision performs a variety of secretarial, receptionist and support duties.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This job has no supervisory responsibility.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR POSITION TITLE:
Practice Manager, Spine Institute

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
To qualify for the position, the candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of secretarial classes beyond high school or an Associate degree in secretarial science or related field preferred. Five years of administrative secretarial experience required. Experience in a health care setting preferred.
CONDITIONS:
The new hire or transfer employee will remain within this job category for a probationary period of six months. With a satisfactory criteria based performance evaluation, the employee will advance to a regular status employee. If the evaluation is not satisfactory, the employee will be terminated.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge of advanced word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software required
- Ability to type 60 words per minute
- Ability to transcribe minutes and handle meeting discussions for transcription
- Knowledge of medical terminology and/or health care methods
- Ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of patients and confidentiality of health system and departmental documents required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The ability to communicate effectively with employees, physicians, hospital management and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic math functions.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to prioritize work responsibilities and problem solve using analytical and problem solving skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
Certified Professional Secretary designation preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing this job the individual will work in a confined high-traffic area. The job requires sitting approximately 80% of the time and standing and walking 20% of the time. The job requires visual and auditory acuity and ability to orally communicate. Ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 35 lbs. and reaching pulling and pushing is required. There is a potential for exposure to blood and/or body substances and hazardous materials.
