Job Description
Nevada State University School of Nursing has a 12-month tenure track faculty position available starting spring semester 2026. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing position is primarily focused on the growing online RN-BSN and MSN programs. The successful applicant will minimally hold an MSN degree; doctoral degree in nursing or related discipline; an unencumbered Nevada Registered Nurse license or ability to obtain prior to employment; at least three years of direct patient care experience; leadership experience in the clinical setting; and a year of experience teaching online. Applicants must be a Nevada resident as regular on campus duties are required. Per need, this position may teach pre-licensure BSN courses in addition to post-licensure online courses.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach 30 credits per academic year across three semesters.
- Teach online in the RN-BSN and MSN Nursing programs.
- Serve on departmental and college-wide committees.
- Conduct required weekly office hours.
- Be available to students, staff, and faculty.
- Student advising.
- Participate in college-wide events.
- Engage in scholarly activity in accordance with expectations for promotion and tenure.
- Use experience as a nurse educator to act as a faculty resource.
- Maintain a regular campus presence to support in-person engagement, collaboration, and student access.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Nursing.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD, doctoral degree in nursing, or doctoral degree in a related discipline from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education.
- MSN degree from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education.
- Active and unencumbered RN license in Nevada, or eligible to obtain it by endorsement.
- At least three (3) years of direct patient care experience.
- At least one (1) year of experience teaching students online.
- Leadership experience in the clinical setting.
- Evidence of teaching excellence in healthcare at the college/university level.
- Proof of creative activities consistent with a tenure-track faculty rank.
- Evidence of leadership ability, and ability to act as a resource in helping to develop new nurse educators.
- Commitment to creating an academic environment that supports students while holding them accountable for meeting minimum expectations.
- Commitment to the promotion of Caring Science in every interaction with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders.
- Highly effective oral communication, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching graduate students.
- Previous experience with higher education online nursing curriculum and/or course development.
- Previous experience with accreditation (CCNE, CNEA, ACEN, or regional academic agencies).
- Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
- Certified Online Instructor (COI) or similar certification.
- Experience with technology enhanced education online.
- Active participation in professional organizations.
