Start your career in public service.  . The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Financial Services (OFS) is seeking candidates for the position of Financial Technician 1. This position is located in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

Position Duties

Pay Grade: G

Under direct supervision, performs paraprofessional accounting and fiscal control functions, such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll preparation, budget monitoring or related general accounting processes.

The Financial Technician reports directly to the Accounts Payable Supervisor. This position processes invoices for the Child Support Services and Aging Services. This position assists both external and internal customers with inquiries related to payments including employee travel.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Travel statements, Basic Expense Forms, and Purchase Orders are processed and paid accurately and timely.
  • Ensure all Travel statements follow SAO policies and requirements.
  • Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly activities.
  • Process assigned Basic Expense Forms, contracts, reclaim and MSLR invoices accurately and timely.
  • Review and resolve budget rejections daily.
  • Help research and follow – up with outstanding Travel advances.
  • Review critical payments weekly/and or monthly to ensure payment is made timely to prevent disconnection and notices, including but not limited to rent and utilities.

  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable.
  • Efficient Data Processing skills.
  • Self-starter who desires to develop his/her talent and advance within the organization.


 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED AND two (2) years of job-related accounting or fiscal experience; 
OR
  • One (1) year of experience at the lower level Accounting Technician Trainee (FIT019) or equivalent position.
