Established from part of the Caterpillar mining group, CB Mining has grown from 2 locations in Washington, PA to now 4 locations, with additions in Marion, IL and Tuscaloosa, AL, We provide customers with rebuild services, CST gearbox rebuilds, welding and fabrications services, service exchange units, custom made cabling solutions, life cycle services including oil sampling and vibration analysis, robust inventory support, compatibility services and underground technical support. We also provide extensive machining, chroming, laser cladding, and hydraulic repairs through our valued partner Cleveland Brothers. Position Summary:

A mechanical engineering internship at CB Mining will consist of working in our Quality and Technical Services Department to support all aspects of CB Mining operations. Main focuses will be supporting rebuild operations through fabrication and design work, utilizing existing drawings to fabricate componentry, reverse engineering parts for outsourcing, and updating paper documentation to digital 3D models.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Use CAD software to create and modify 3D models, 2D drawings, weldments, and assembly drawings.
• Help identify and troubleshoot manufacturing and rebuild issues. Assist in developing process improvements, tooling, fixtures, etc. to improve efficiency and safety.
• Help update paper drawings to digital documentation.
• Support quality in part inspection, drawing review, and rebuild equipment inspections.
• Support cross department interface between service operations and parts service in developing manufacturing drawings via reverse engineering.

Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD software’s required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with shop floor and office team members.
• Ability to read drawings and weldments, including hydraulic & electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of fabrication and welding processes are a plus.
• A commitment to following and promoting all CB Mining safety and housekeeping standards.

It started with 89 employees and 1 location, that historically focused on customer support, underground Technical Service Reps, Longwall AFC, BSL, and Crusher rebuilds. Today we have 2 locations in Washington, PA, Marion, IL, and Tuscaloosa, AL where we continue the legacy on superb customer support for both Longwall and R &P underground mining.
