Pay rate range: $31.88 - $40.86. Based on our Davis, CA office location. (West Yost uses geographic salary differentials that would apply for candidates in other regions).

PROJECT ACCOUNTANT II
West Yost Associates (West Yost) is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Project Accountant to support the accounting department in our Davis office. This full-time position will interface directly with engineering project managers and staff, and report to the Accounting Supervisor. The Project Accountant II will provide support to the existing accounting staff in billing, accounts receivable, contracts, accounts payable, job costing, and assisting in the completion of special projects.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of accounting processes and experience with automated accounting systems, preferably Deltek or similar ERP systems, Concur, etc. Construction or professional services firm experience including complex contracting is preferred. The ability to work independently as well as a team environment and meet deadlines is required. The candidate must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and exciting environment utilizing strong problem-solving skills while efficiently organizing workload and prioritizing competing responsibilities.
BASIC JOB FUNCTION
The Project Accountant II will provide support to the existing accounting staff in billing, project budgets, accounts receivable, contracts, accounts payable, and assisting in the completion of special projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE)
- Accurate and timely preparation and review of client invoices
- Interface regularly with project management and project team; assist Project Manager with project setup and closeout.
- Monitor projects for contract compliance, performance and key indicators.
- Reviewing construction/professional services contracts and setting up jobs in the accounting system to ensure that the financial impact of contracts and/or change orders are reflected correctly.
- Ensure all incurred cost is reflected accurately and in a timely fashion on the project, including subconsultant invoices, team member expense reimbursements, etc.
- Clear and professional communication with project managers
- As part of the billing team, coordinating, completing, and assisting with complex billing issues.
- Collections, as needed.
- Preparation of accounts receivable and payable reconciliations and analysis reports required for general ledger purposes
- Set up and modification of complex Excel spreadsheets
- Posting transactions to the general ledger, including payables, cash receipts and disbursements.
- General administration of accounting processes.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and/or Experience
- 3+ years of related experience
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills
- Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook
- Proficiency with automated accounting systems
