Purpose of Position: Groundsworker will work under the direction of the Operations Branch of OptimERA Tech. They assist will assit in the daily maintenance tasks, field service calls and assist with all new construction projects as related to Public and Private Utility and Telecommunications installations. Groundsworker will work under the direct spervision of qualified and licensed Journey Workers. The ideal Groundsworker is highly self-motivated, professional, andeagle ot learn and keep up with assigned workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. Groundsworker shall be able to interact directly and indirectly with thier superviors and cutomers in a professional manner .

Essential Duties of Position:
Daily Tasks- Assist crews in construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems
- Load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment on trucks and at job sites
- Maintain safe work areas by clearing brush, setting up traffic control, and keeping work zones free of hazards
- Handle, prepare, and stage poles, wire, and hardware under supervision of a journeyman lineworker or foreman
- Operate basic hand and power tools; assist with setting poles and pulling wire
- Act as a designated ground observer to maintain communication and situational awareness for the crew
- Maintain and inspect tools, rigging, and safety equipment; report defects or issues promptly
- Learn and follow proper grounding, tagging, and isolation procedures for energized and de-energized systems
- Assist with digging holes, trenching, tamping backfill, and setting anchors or guy wires
- Drive and operate light trucks or equipment as directed (must maintain a valid driver’s license)
- Participate in safety meetings and follow all company safety policies and electrical safe-work practices

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Desire to learn about the industry and technologies related to the development, deployment, and operation of Private and Public Utilities.
- Desire to learn the the operations of the equipment of the trade, including but not limited to aerial equipment, mobilization equipment and excavation equipment.
- Organizational, management and problem-solving skills and multi-tasking abilities.
Years of Experience required to meet minimum qualifications:
Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills, with the ability to become familiar with company-specific programs and software’s related to, Troubleshooting, configuration, development and Human Resources.- Private or Public Utility related experience is not required but encoraged.
Level of Education required to meet minimum qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements: Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color. Ability to use a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday, perform repetitive keyboarding activities and operate general office equipment. Must have the ability to communicate orally, both in person and over the telephone. Ability to lift and carry up to (50) lbs. and work in cramped spaces. Sufficient balance for occasional use of a step ladder. Sufficient hearing, vision, depth perception, and hand-to-eye coordination to perform job duties. Visual and auditory acuity necessary to operate equipment and identify color-coding. Ability to tolerate temperature and weather extremes (fumes and odors, dust, low light conditions.) Sufficient strength, dexterity, and coordination to perform job duties.
Working Conditions: Position will include mostly field and site work but will include Central Office network/clerical environment work. Limited travel to remote sites throughout Alaska and to lower 48 States is expected in the performance of job duties. Ability to work extended hours without notice in order to resolve service impacting issues. Minimal clerical and office work is expected.
Driving Requirements: Must have valid driver’s license.
