District Primary Purpose:  To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement.

 

Department Primary Purpose:  To assist in prompt and accurate handling of all Employee Benefit concerns including the implementation of local, state and federal regulations regarding Family Medical Leave.

 

 

Qualifications:                                              

 

Education/Certification: High School Diploma

 

Experience/Knowledge: Familiarity with Family Medical Leave Act & Workers Compensation Claims process.  Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.  Strong background in computers and office automation, including word processing, Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  Ability to prioritize, organize and complete multiple tasks.  Possess good critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:   

  1. Responsible for determining if employees are eligible for leave. 
  2. Responsible for providing response to employees leave request within required time limit.  
  3. Responsible for disseminating copies of all letters and request forms to Payroll Dept., Human Resources, and appropriate campuses & department.  
  4. Prepare, process and maintain FMLA data base files.  
  5. Responsible for notifying employees of their impending return to work date.  
  6. Ability to process and safeguard confidential information.  
  7. Assist employees with questions regarding Family Medical Leave.  
  8. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and contribute to the effective interchange of information within the various departments.  
  9. Handle inquiries and exercises sound judgment in referral of inquiries to correct individual.  
  10. Conduct meetings to explain the FMLA process to district employees and administrators.  
  11. Assist in evaluating of District’s Accident Prevention Plan  
  1. Report Workers Compensation claims to Third Party Administrator - Including but not limited to: DWC-1, DWC-3, DWC-6, DWC-73.
  2. Provide notice of Employee & Employer Rights & Responsibilities.
  3. Process and submit Workers Compensation notices to campus and departments.
  4. Attend Benefit Review Conferences (BRC) and Contested Case Hearings (CCH) for dispute resolutions.
  5. Mitigate Workers’ Compensation claims with claims adjuster(s) and attorney(ies).
  6. Conduct safety trainings to Safety Committee, campuses and departments.
  7. Audit monthly Safety Committee Members reports/documentation.
  8. Maintain and organizing multiple Workers’ Compensation files at all times.
  9. Maintain Confidentiality of all Workers Compensation claims.
  10. Prepare and submit Open Records Requests for FMLA & Workers Compensation
  11. Use district or personal vehicle for travel (in-district/out of district); use District vehicle when available.
