June 2026 (with the option to continue through the summer with camp)

Job Overview
The primary focus of the Education Assistant is to support the Queens Zoo Educators in the delivery of inquiry-based science and nature programs for children - with a specific focus on Spanish-speaking PreK students. Programming will take place both at the Queens Zoo and at two Preschools in Corona Queens. The Education Assistant will help develop program materials, assist in teaching mini-science lessons, and support schools and families when they attend programs at the Queens Zoo. The majority of the hands-on science programming will be taught in both English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
● Assist with teaching programs for Pre-K and elementary aged children at the Queens Zoo and two local elementary schools
● Prepare and organize program materials
● Attend regular staff meetings and participate in staff development
● Perform all related tasks and duties, as assigned
● Comply with all policies and procedures as presented by WCS and the WCS Education Department
Salary Range
Internal Qualification Requirements
● Bilingual/Spanish speaker
● High School diploma or GED
● One year prior experience working with early childhood/ Pre K students
