 This is an on-site Business Development Manager position that can be based at one of our LSI offices in Houston, TX, Burlington, NC, or Cincinnati, OH.

 Summary: 

LSI Industries is a leading manufacturer of high-performance, specification-grade lighting solutions. We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven individual to join our growing Sports Lighting team. This role is crucial for expanding our market presence by actively identifying, qualifying, and initiating relationships with potential sports facility clients. If you are a self-starter who thrives on the hunt for new business and can expertly manage the initial sales process, we want to hear from you.

 Core Responsibilities

  • Aggressive Prospecting & Lead Generation: Proactively identify and engage new sales opportunities within the sports lighting market (e.g., municipalities, high schools, universities, private sports complexes) through targeted outreach.
  • High-Volume Outreach: Execute a high volume of outbound activities, including cold calls and targeted email campaigns, to introduce LSI's sports lighting solutions and services.
  • Opportunity Qualification: Conduct thorough discovery and qualification of leads to determine project scope, decision-makers, budget, and timeline, ensuring a quality pipeline.
  • CRM Management: Accurately track all sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system daily.
  • Pipeline Transition: Work closely with the regional sales team, National Director and agents to seamlessly transition qualified leads and schedule initial project scoping meetings.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and new project developments to better target outreach efforts.
  • Light Travel: Represent LSI at occasional industry events, trade shows, or client meetings as required (estimated 10-15% travel).

 Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven Prospecting Ability: Demonstrated experience or strong aptitude for generating new business leads through cold calling, email, and social selling.
  • Resilience and Drive: Exceptional comfort with high-volume rejection and the persistence to consistently follow up and close initial discovery meetings. A true self-starter with a high degree of internal motivation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and value propositions clearly and concisely.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to quickly learn and understand the technical specifications and benefits of sports lighting products. Prior experience in lighting, electrical, or a related technical sales field is a strong plus.
  • CRM Proficiency: Comfortable and proficient in using CRM software (e.g., HubSpot) for managing pipeline and logging activities.
  • Organizational Excellence: Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple prospecting campaigns simultaneously.
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in sales/business development.
