Drew University is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist in the Finance Department. Reporting to the Director of Procurement and Accounts Payable, the Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the review, approval and processing of all requests for payment for the University. This is a part-time, Non-Exempt position, up to 27 hours a week. This is a Hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, approve and process of all requests for payment, including but not limited to, vendor invoices, check requests, travel & expense reports, reimbursements, credit card payments, etc.
  • Process the weekly check run: submit payment run for approval, print checks, meet payment schedules, process all wire transfers and other electronic methods of payment.
  • Reconcile vendor statements with internal records to ensure accuracy and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Interact with vendors to resolve payment or invoice issues and with internal teams to address payment-related questions.
  • Manage unclaimed property, including outreach to vendors and other individuals. Submit unclaimed property information as needed to the state.
  • Documentation: maintain all policies and procedures for all Accounts Payable processes. Maintain files of all payments and backup documentation.
  • Reporting: ad hoc reporting as needed including year-end 1099 reporting & processing.
  • Functional lead for Accounts Payable module in University’s Ellucian Banner ERP system.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the department.

Required Qualifications:  

  • High School required. 
  • Associate or bachelor's degree is required, preferably in accounting.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 1-3 years' experience in Accounts Payable preferred
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner Accounts Payable module preferred
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, time management, excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Sheets and data entry is essential.
