JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Security will be responsible for planning and directing the community's security and transportation operations. Provides departmental leadership to ensure the security, safety, and transportation services of the community are met through adequate oversight, appropriate staffing, and careful monitoring of all functions and equipment. Ensures proper maintenance and use of security systems, including but not limited to security cameras and the security tour verification system. Inspects all company vehicles on a regular basis to ensure compliance with preventative maintenance and standards of cleanliness and safety are maintained. Administers the staffing and payroll functions and ensures implementation of training programs for all security and transportation staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the departmental personnel issues, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of employees.
- Plan, evaluate and direct the security programs and activities.
- Must be able to plan, organize and implement objectives for the department.
- Prepare and monitor the departmental budget.
- Oversee the operation of the Security, Transportation and Health Center Reception Desk along with the in-house CH. 12, and 119. (Movie channel was discontinued, not sure what channels are currently in use, though it was 2something)
- Work closely with all departments on Disaster readiness in the event of a hurricane evacuation. Assist with the training, maintaining vendor agreements, and hurricane coordinator meetings.
- Maintain an effective parking policy for members reassignment and enforcement for staff. Issue and maintain parking decals/RFID’s as requested and maintain database.
- Serve as the facility safety officer. Maintain records in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Respond to emergencies medical and fire related.
- Train staff on issuance of Key fobs for Salto locks in addition to acting as the vendor contact for Salto. Liaise with Plant Operations as they are responsible for the maintenance of the hardware.
- Train staff on monitoring pull chord alarms and management of Palcare pendants to residents. Liaise with Plant Operations as they will be responsible for maintenance of Pull chord hardware. The security department will be responsible for after-hours work orders being submitted to Palcare.
- Security is responsible for calling the 24-hour number after hours for any fire alarm issues and liaise with Plant Operations as they are responsible for maintenance issues on the fire alarms and panels and are the vendor contact.
- Security is responsible for the ordering, maintenance and issuance of radios and will act as the vendor contact.
- Security to issue and maintain cellphones and act as the vendor contact.
- The Director and Assistant Director will be responsible for reviewing security footage sent to them by IT for surveillance requests submitted. Liaising with IT to inform them of what parts needs to be cut and sent to the requestor.
- Security will be required to liaise with Clinical teams and be responsible for alarms at all times.
- Must work closely with other department heads in a positive team-like fashion.
- Must maintain up-to-date policies and procedures for staff under his/her direction.
- Must work with Sawgrass Security, and the St. Johns Fire and Sheriff’s office on any pending incidents.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
- Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 6 years related experience and/or training, and 4 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. or greater.
- Must have physical ability to bend, twist, kneel, squat, stoop, walk, reach, push, pull, and climb to meet demands which may arise in the position.
- May be required to work outside, as well as inside, under conditions that may have extreme cold and heat.
- Must have the ability to deal with irate people and remain calm and consistent, and deal with issues in a professional and responsible manner.
- Must be able to work the hours necessary, which may very well include evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations in the community when needed.
- A positive outlook and a good sense of humor are extremely helpful in this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk hear, and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and be able to work at heights. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus as well as work on a computer for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to communicate verbally with other on the phone or in person.
