About CMFCAA 

The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is a not-for-profit agency that educates, supports, and advocates for foster, adoptive, & kinship children, youth, & families in central Missouri by offering services & partnering with community & governmental agencies to develop healthy & self-sufficient individuals & families. 

 

Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them. 

 

Position Summary 

The Director of Development is a key leader within the Advancement team, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support CMFCAA’s mission and growth. This role manages individual giving, major gifts, events, grants, donor stewardship, and corporate sponsorships across all agency locations. The Director of Development builds meaningful, long-term relationships with donors, leads fundraising campaigns, oversees key development staff, and collaborates with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to meet annual and long-term revenue goals. 

 

Essential Functions/Job Expectations 

  • Lead and implement individual major gift strategies, managing relationships with donors contributing $10,000 or more annually. 

  • Develop and oversee fundraising campaigns, including the Backyard BBQ Bash, annual Gala, and emerging regional fundraisers. 

  • Supervise and provide strategic guidance to the Grant Coordinator, Events & Partnership Manager, and Outreach Manager. 

  • Collaborate with the CDO and Communications Manager to produce donor materials, campaign messaging, and legacy gift promotions. 

  • Identify and cultivate new donors, including high-net-worth individuals, businesses, and foundations, to expand funding streams. 

  • Track and report fundraising performance, donor interactions, and stewardship efforts using CRM systems. 

  • Maintain stewardship of existing donors through personalized outreach, recognition, and regular engagement. 

  • Represent CMFCAA at community events such as Chamber of Commerce meetings, church partnerships, and service groups. 

  • Lead planned giving and donor upgrade initiatives, aligning with long-term funding objectives. 

  • Support grant proposal development and align individual donor strategies with institutional funding goals.

Qualifications/Credentials 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, marketing, or related field. 

  • Minimum 3 years of nonprofit fundraising or donor relations experience, including major gifts, campaign planning, or events management. 

  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding fundraising targets. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting donor relationships. 

  • Knowledge of fundraising software and donor management systems (CRM experience preferred). 

  • Ability to lead a team, manage multiple projects, and work independently with minimal supervision. 

  • Skilled in community engagement and public representation. 

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. 

  • Creative thinker with a results-driven mindset and strong attention to detail. 

  • Valid Driver’s License Required 

  • Reliable transportation Required 

  • Background checks Required 

 

Salary

  • Salary starts at $56,652.99 commensurate with experience and education
