Halo Industries is a leader in advanced manufacturing, specializing in proprietary laser-based technology to produce high-quality Silicon Carbide (SiC) wafers for next-generation power electronics. Our products are critical components in sustainable electrification markets, including Electric Vehicles, grid infrastructure, and renewable energy. We are committed to optimizing resource utilization, minimizing waste, and setting the new gold standard for SiC substrate production, driven by a best-in-class digital manufacturing platform.
Job Summary
The Senior Production Control Planner at Halo Industries plays a strategic and critical role in coordinating and scheduling the production of our SiC wafers and related materials. This senior-level position is responsible not only for execution but for designing, implementing, and institutionalizing the Production Control processes from the ground up. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader and hands-on architect with deep analytical skills, 10+ years of progressive experience, a strong understanding of finite resource scheduling, and expert proficiency in modern Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning, Process Development, and Stakeholder Alignment
● Process Design and Governance: Architect, document, and implement the core Production Control Planning (PCP) processes, policies, and standard work (SOPs) across the entire planning lifecycle, ensuring scalability as the company grows from R&D to high-volume production.
● Stakeholder Alignment and Communication: Proactively engage with Executive Leadership, Engineering, Sales, and Finance stakeholders to align on demand forecasts, capacity constraints, delivery commitments, and process handoffs, ensuring the production plan supports strategic business objectives.
● Strategic Planning and Horizon Management: Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across defined planning horizons (Firm, Slush, Soft). The Planner must expertly load production and control material release based on the rules for each horizon to maintain schedule stability.
Scheduling, Data Control, and Execution
● Finite Scheduling & Capacity Planning: Apply advanced principles of finite resource scheduling to create feasible production schedules by accounting for the actual limited capacity of specialized equipment (e.g., laser wafering tools), cleanroom space, and personnel.
● System Optimization: Utilize advanced planning and scheduling tools (APS) to generate optimized, constrained schedules. Proactively model future capacity constraints (e.g., maintenance, tool downtime) and develop contingency plans to mitigate delivery risk.
● Real-Time Production Execution (MES Focus): Act as the power user for the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for daily production control and tracking of Work-in-Process (WIP). This includes performing and managing all critical lot transactions (starts, splits, merges, reworks, and holds) to ensure complete and accurate traceability.
● Data Synthesis and System Integration: Serve as the critical link between different enterprise data sources (ERP, MRP, MES). Reconcile inventory, capacity, and schedule deviations reported across various platforms to ensure a single, accurate version of the truth for all planning and reporting.
● Inventory & Material Management: Utilize ERP/MRP to determine and manage raw material requirements, ensuring high accuracy of inventory records and coordinating long-range material procurement signals.
Analysis and Continuous Improvement
● Generate and analyze high-level performance reports (OEE, cycle time, WIP levels, delivery performance) directly from MES data to inform executive decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
● Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing leadership to adjust process routings and production rules within the MES to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
