DFCS is seeking candidates for the position of Social Svcs Prgm Consultant 3 (Supervisor Mentor) provide a formal program of mentoring to all new supervisors as well as established supervisors who may benefit from such support. The goal of mentoring is to develop the supervisor’s capacity to effectively deliver the educative, administrative and supportive components associated with quality supervision. Supervisor Mentors provide individual and group mentoring, develop and deliver trainings, and participate in special projects targeting frontline supervision.

Position Duties
Pay Grade: K
Under broad supervision, conducts research involving data collection and analysis, develops and implements policy, and administers social services programs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complete Pre and Post Assessments of the Supervisor’s skill set based on feedback from county leaders and the mentees’ subordinates.
- Meet with mentees and their teams to assess and provide instruction and support in the MENTOR Development Areas.
- Meet with supervisors in-person and accompany supervisors to meetings, court hearings, and other activities since many of these responsibilities will require supervisor attention and are a part of the supervisory skills being developed.
- Review work performance and provide immediate feedback in a supportive fashion to the mentees and retain reports of each session and the outcomes.
- Address any supervisor capacity concerns directly with their Mentees as coaching and teachable moments.
- Evaluate and provide reports of supervisor’s capacity to county and regional leadership.
- Develop and deliver trainings, including Supervisor Simulation training, to frontline staff.
- Participate in special projects targeting frontline supervision.
Core Competencies:
- Encourage, inspire and support CW professionals to meet outcomes.
- Build rapport and establish partnerships with county leadership and other stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional job-related experience which includes one (1) year in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role;
OR
Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Social Svcs Prgm Consultant 2 (SSP041) or position equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following skills/experience:
- Three (3) plus years of experience as a Child Welfare (CW) Social Services Supervisor in any Program Area.
- Two (2) plus years of experience as a CW Social Services Administrator, Field Program Specialist or Other Consulting Position.
