- Three (3) to five (5) years of warehousing and supervisory experience in a shipping line, NVOCC, or freight forwarding environment.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and bonded cargo in a warehouse environment.
- Working knowledge of bonded and CFS cargo operations.
- Strong administrative skills with experience in scheduling, reporting, and inventory control.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Hands-on experience with the Magaya Warehouse Management System (WMS) or comparable platforms.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or optimizing warehouse processes and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop personnel, balancing staffing needs with operational and profitability goals.
- Well-developed management skills, including both process management and people leadership.
- Self-motivated with the ability to coach and mentor team members.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and personalities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Ability to establish credibility, make sound decisions, and align with organizational goals and priorities.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish at an intermediate to advanced level (verbal and written).
- Exposure to digital transformation initiatives or automation in logistics/warehousing.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools for reporting and operational decision-making.
- Implement process improvements: Develop and execute strategies and training programs to improve cargo stow and handling practices, reducing costs while increasing operational efficiency.
- Introduce new systems and technologies: Evaluate and implement new processes, equipment, and technologies, including enhancements to Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), to streamline workflows, optimize space utilization, and reduce labor costs.
- Leverage data for decision-making: Regularly analyze operational and financial reports for trends, identify areas for improvement, and take corrective actions. Provide coaching and retraining where necessary to improve cost control, efficiency, and compliance.
- Provide leadership and direction: Offer day-to-day guidance to warehouse personnel, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. Monitor productivity and service quality to meet established goals and KPIs.
- Collaborate across functions: Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to gain full understanding of systems, services, and internal customer requirements. Partner with commercial and sales groups to support organizational strategies, including market development, value-added services, and expansion into emerging market segments such as parcel handling.
- Stay current with industry trends: Monitor developments in warehousing, cargo handling, automation, and storage technologies to ensure the facility remains competitive and compliant with best practices.
- Ensure quality control: Design and implement programs, including regular audits, to guarantee quality and accuracy throughout the process flow, from receiving to outbound distribution.
- Manage performance metrics: Analyze trucker turn times and other operational KPIs. Develop strategies and dashboards to track, measure, and continuously improve service levels and delivery commitments.
- Coordinate with third-party providers: Build and manage relationships with external service providers and partners to leverage opportunities that improve service offerings, expand capacity, and strengthen integrated solutions.
- Oversee receiving operations: Supervise and train staff in receiving processes, ensuring efficient and accurate handling of cargo, including hazardous materials. Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory requirements at all times.
- Support senior management: Prepare reports, provide operational updates, and respond to inquiries from senior leadership. Contribute recommendations that align warehouse operations with broader company objectives.
- Develop future leadership capabilities: Actively build knowledge and leadership skills with the goal of assuming greater responsibilities as needed.
- High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.
