POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Sr. Quality Engineering Supervisor will oversee quality control and quality engineering expertise to determine and meet project and customer requirements, implement and maintain quality systems/processes, and lead a team to ensure products and services meet established standards and customer requirements. The Sr. Quality Engineering Supervisor is also responsible for presenting well-organized reports and presentations that communicate organizational, project performance and customer-related data.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of quality engineers, supplier quality engineers and BIM Coordinators setting performance goals and conducting appraisals.
- Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of the quality system/processes, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
- Monitor production processes, analyze quality data, and recommend improvements to reduce safety incidents and increase quality and performance.
- Provide technical support to ensure customer requirements are met and contribute to product development and validation activities.
- Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of suppliers with the supplier and ensure the quality of purchased materials.
- Participate in and/or hold pFMEA and ITP discussions.
- Any other work assigned by TAS.
JOB SKILLS:
- Ability to lead and develop a team, motivate personnel, and manage HR issues.
- Thorough knowledge of quality assurance processes, manufacturing processes, and relevant tools like 8D methodology, Six Sigma, root cause and corrective action investigation techniques (5 Why’s, fishbones and root cause analysis).
- Strong analytical skills to monitor quality data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with other departments, management, and external agencies.
- Can communicate effectively written and verbal.
- Advanced presentation skills using Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages.
- Advanced knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system requirements.
- Expert in common industrial manufacturing processes (raw material processing, welding, coating, etc.).
- Can gather, inform, and direct a multi-discipline team towards a common goal.
- Can elicit feedback from others in a positive manner.
- Can easily develop frequency distributions, cause and effect diagrams, Pareto analysis, pivot tables, control charts and basic statistics.
- Basic understanding of metallurgical principles (MTRs, basic ASTM interpretation of materials, testing to include tensile, Charpy, and micro-etch).
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline from an accredited four-year program.
- ASQ certification in Quality Engineering or equivalent.
- ASQ certification in Root Cause Analysis or equivalent.
- ASQ certification in internal auditing or equivalent.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years in the following:
- Nonconformance investigations
- Corrective Action Investigations
- Welding and fabrication techniques
- Good Manufacturing (mechanical/electrical) installation practices
- 5+ years in the following:
- Supervisory role
- Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (pFMEA).
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering from an accredited four-year program
- Certified ASQ Quality Manager is a plus
- Six Sigma Green or Black/Belt is a plus
- 10+ years in a supervisor role.
- Knowledge of new technologies and their application (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, etc.).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
