AS the School Operations Manager you will be a pivotal figure within the educational environment, responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of the school building.  The Operations Manager works collaboratively with school leadership, faculty, and support staff, to manage daily logistics, oversee facility needs, and implement safety protocols.  

  • Oversee and coordinate all non-instructional operations of the school, including facilities management, custodial services, transportation, food service, staff records and compliance with regulatory agencies  

  • Implement, and monitor standard operating procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with agency and local compliance agencies such as DOHMH 

  • Along with school leadership, promote a culture of continuous improvement, soliciting feedback from staff, and families to identify challenges and opportunities for operational enhancement. 

  • Ensure that the school’s physical facilities are clean, well-maintained, and conducive to learning at all times. 

  • Supervise maintenance staff and manage regular building inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair schedules for classrooms, offices, common areas, playgrounds and gym. 

  • In conjunction with school leadership coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills and lockdown drills 

  • Oversee compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring that all required inspections, permits, and certifications are up to date. 

  • In collaboration with school leadership, coordinate routine safety audits  

  • Oversee procurement for operational supplies, equipment, and services 

  • Maintain records and manage data related to inventory,  

  • Delegate assignments and monitor performance to ensure quality and efficiency in facility’s service delivery. 

  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that values diversity, ethical conduct, and ongoing professional development. 

  • Participate in school events, meetings, and committees to represent the operations function and gather insight into evolving community needs. 

  • Respond promptly to operational concerns, questions, and requests for assistance, maintaining a visible and accessible presence. 

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred not required  

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in an educational or nonprofit environment. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and operate effectively in a fast-paced setting. 

  • Strong working knowledge of facility management, safety regulations, and procurement processes. 

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Proficiency with technology systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, Data management software, and online communication tools. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for school events or emergencies.
