Summary  

Responsible for overall operating performance within the rendering area. Works with rendering management to streamline efficiency of production with emphasis on safety, foods safety, quality, effective communication, improving financial results, and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provides coverage in the absence of other team members of the rendering team

Maintain safety programs to ensure a safe working environment. Perform daily walk around visual inspection of the department observe for unsafe acts or conditions and take immediate action where necessary.

Train employees to ensure safe operating procedures are followed.

Maintain desired product quality and safety. Maintain adequate knowledge of product and equipment to ensure ability to direct employees to perform the job properly.

Maintain or exceed goals on yields and efficiencies. Work weekly with operations supervisor and superintendent to become familiar with yields and variances, methods of calculation, typical problem areas, and methods of corrections and improvement.

Communicate with team members daily to discuss work assignments. Strive for continuous improvement of product coasts.

Perform daily checks to ensure that standards are being met.

Take necessary steps to ensure downtime is maintained at the lowest possible level.

Trace and analyze key product result measures for improvement opportunities.

Maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the process: setting processing variables observing control points and equipment monitoring equipment.

Must have knowledge of all the equipment in rendering and able to operate all equipment.

Ensure that operators are doing hourly sample checks and filling out system checklist on a daily basis.

Pro-actively develop skills of all team members in rendering through cross- training.

Always wearing the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as assigned in your work area perform safety observations, PPE check, and area inspection.

Ensure government regulatory compliance, HACCP, SSOP, GMP, and SQF program for product performance and safety.

Other tasks deemed/directed by management.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or knowledge equivalent to.

1 year mechanical background preferred but not required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. 

Demonstrates required skills; adapts to new technologies; troubleshoots technological problems; uses technology to increase productivity; keeps technical skills up to date.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management and customers.

Ability to plan work on a daily schedule, work independently and be a highly motivated individual.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and to work with accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to perform this job successfully, an individual should have a high proficiency of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Word Processing software.
