SUMMARY: 

In support of the world’s leading medical relief charity, which has expanded its reach in Europe via the registration of an affiliate located in Frankfurt, Germany – Direct Relief gGmbH, the Manager, Corporate Engagement, Europe will be responsible for engaging a portfolio of assigned corporate partners in the pharmaceutical and medical tech industries that contribute resources (medical product and cash) that benefit treats underserved patients in lower income countries.  Direct Relief has developed an extensive network of healthcare providers (clinics, hospitals, foundations, Health Ministries, etc.) in over 100 developing countries.   

This position will work as part of a team within the Corporate Engagement department and in conjunction with other department’s staff to determine and fulfill needs related to European based excess inventory medical product donations, produce-to-give opportunities, and Rx access initiatives.   This is mainly an externally focused position that proactively builds and manages relationships and then seeks healthcare company support to further the work and mission of Direct Relief. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The following duties and responsibilities are those considered to be essential, but do not represent all job functions that may be required to be performed by this position. Other comparable responsibilities and duties may be assigned as needed. 

Core Duties:

  • Research healthcare companies’ ESG / CSR strategy and therapeutic areas in order to make proactive pitches that complement the company’s product portfolio and focus
  • Initiate contact with prospective corporate partners, including setting up introductory calls and meetings, presenting Direct Relief, its capabilities, and helping manage ongoing correspondence and relationships
  • Responsible for the development and stewardship of a portfolio of healthcare company relationships / collaborations to support Direct Relief’s programmatic work and activities
  • Regularly present to prospective corporate partners on Direct Relief’s programmatic activities, exhibiting strong institutional knowledge of the organization and its work
  • Resource to consult with companies in the development of targeted donation requests related to non-communicable diseases, oncology, rare diseases, etc., and special initiatives (cold-chain capacity, resilient power for medical facilities, etc.) 
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy and other departments to better understand Rx drugs offered and optimal opportunities for utilization of any offered Rx products. 
  • Conduct substantive in-person meetings with leading healthcare companies to brief on Direct Relief, review past support, assess impact, and discuss growth opportunities. 
  • Represent Direct Relief at industry conferences and meetings in the US and internationally, as needed, including booth set up and staffing at industry conferences
  • Input of medical product donation offers within Direct Relief’s SAP system, as needed, and conduct analysis of donations made to Direct Relief 

Secondary Duties:

  • Help identify donor communications opportunities for DR corporate partners and coordinate with Communications staff on development of articles or other social media 
  • Support transactional work of team during disaster / emergency responses and other times of great need to ensure timely processing of all donations / response to all corporate donors  

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Master’s or advanced Degree preferred
  • Familiar with Rx pharmaceuticals and or pharmaceutical / biotech industry
  • Proficient with computers and standard software applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Technical Requirements:

  • Input of Rx and medical product donation offers within Direct Relief’s SAP system, as needed
  • Highly organized individual with ability to develop a plan and or execute department’s plan
  • Ability to travel for conferences or company meetings, including domestically /internationally to disaster / emergency areas and or to Low-Income / Low-Middle-Income countries.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to take initiative and work independently.

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to travel via automobile, train, or airplane (estimated travel at 15% - 25% )
  • Must pass (clear) toxicology screening.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
