Contract Policing Program - Temporary Constable

In the heart of our communities, neighbours still greet each other on the street, and the sense of connection runs deep.  While Victoria and the Island may feel small, it is rooted in a rich history and a spirit of resilience and innovation.  It’s a place where you can feel at home, while still being part of something bigger.  Vancouver Island is calling you…

Have you reached retirement – or have you recently retired – but you aren’t quite ready to hang up your duty belt?  Perhaps you’re a former VicPD member who wants to return, or a seasoned officer looking to begin a new chapter in a community that values collaboration, innovation, and upstream approaches to public safety.  The Victoria Police Department (VicPD) is welcoming a limited number of experienced officers to join our team as contract employees.  This is your opportunity to bring your experience and leadership home – or to Vancouver Island for the first time — and help shape the future of policing in British Columbia’s capital city.

Why Choose VicPD

At VicPD, we are embracing a new era of policing – one that focuses on partnerships, prevention, and proactive solutions.  We are seeking seasoned officers who want to be part of this shift by:

  • Collaborating across sectors to address the root causes of crime and enhance community well-being.
  • Partnering with health, social service, and Indigenous leaders to advance upstream approaches to public safety.
  • Leading with integrity, compassion, and innovation to meet today’s complex challenges.

This is more than extending a career in policing – it’s about shaping the future of community safety in one of Canada’s most beautiful and dynamic regions.
