🌿 What You’ll Do

  • Lead and support field programs focused on vegetation, wetlands, and Species at Risk (SAR)
  • Conduct vegetation assessments using Ecological Land Classification (ELC) and Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES)
  • Carry out botanical inventories, vegetation monitoring, and targeted SAR flora assessments (e.g., Butternut and Black Ash health assessments)
  • Delineate ecological features (wetlands, woodlands, etc.)
  • Support or lead wildlife surveys (e.g., anuran surveys, SAR bat habitat assessments, acoustic monitoring)
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret ecological data to inform impact assessments and mitigation strategies
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports and contribute to multidisciplinary project documentation
  • Engage with clients, Indigenous communities, and regulatory agencies
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments and regions
  • Take on other duties as assigned—every day is different!
 

🌻 What You’ll Bring

  • University degree or equivalent experience in Ecology, Biology, Botany, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience (internships/co-op placements count!)
  • Strong field botany skills and a passion for Ontario’s flora
  • Training/certification in ELC and OWES protocols (or applied experience)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to work outdoors, sometimes in remote locations and outside standard hours
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, even under tight deadlines
  • Commitment to health and safety
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to make a difference in environmental consulting
