Senior Engineer – Groundworks

Location: Primary Location, Chalfont, Gerrards Cross
Other Locations -Bedford & Winchester

Purpose

Lead by example within a Groundworks Field team in confidently delivering high quality engineering for the most complex project, planned works and maintenance, and supporting the team with common faults, developing technical expertise, improving customer service, minimizing customer impact of downtime, whilst meeting quality and safety commitments.

 

Accountabilities

  • To respond to faults in a timely manner and complete corrective maintenance on a range of RF systems to meet our customer SLAs.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance in line with Arqiva standards, policies, and procedures.
  • On site lead for upgrades and modifications to existing systems and networks following agreed instructions.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation and reporting of actions taken.
  • Complete testing and measurement to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and customer requirements.
  • Engage with customers both internal & external to build positive working relationships.
  • To undertake contractor supervision duties as required, including monitoring of contractors and their safe working practices so that relevant standards are met.
  • To actively participate in a 24/7 365 callout response as per the scheduled rota.
  • Always working safely, complying with Health & Safety legislation and Arqiva SHE policy.
  • Available to work flexibly both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and adaptive work ethic.
  • Promote Arqiva’s culture and values.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operating policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide mentoring support to Engineers and Technicians.
  • Ability to analyse fault scenarios and contribute towards the process of Root Cause Analysis.
  • Creating Risk Assessments and Method Statements when required.
  • Provide technical leadership within the team, sharing knowledge, skills, and support.
  • Produce work instructions and other appropriate tools and materials to support service and technical delivery.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Degree/ equivalent Level 6 qualification OR relevant experience.
  • Confident and proficient with processes, standards and engineering practices related to corrective and preventative maintenance, with the ability to write or re-write, as necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of networking principles.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of fault finding and troubleshooting and the ability to communicate your findings within a team and the wider engineering community.
  • Extensive knowledge of systems and equipment relevant to role such as RF systems, Digital Television, Analogue Radio, DAB, Microwave links, Satellite systems, Data Networks, Telecoms etc. 
  • Extensive knowledge of RF principles. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles of power supplies, environmental controls, telemetry systems, analogue and digital electronics working down to component level. 
  • Extensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, with the ability to write Method Statements and Risk Assessments for complex tasks. 
  • Specialisation in multiple systems and equipment relevant to role such as RF Systems, Digital Television, Analogue Radio, DAB, Microwave Links, Satellite Systems, Data Networks, Telecoms etc.
