The team:

Our multi-disciplinary Real Estate group is highly regarded by our clients and within the sector. It comprises not only lawyers but town also town and country planners and sector focused financial advisers. We’ve brought experts into our services in planning, development, investment, landlord and tenant matters, construction and litigation with a particular emphasis on energy, retail, housing, education, finance and investment funds.
 
Our Social Housing Sales team is one of the largest in the Midlands specialising in all aspects of property acquisition and disposal for more than 60 Registered Providers across the country. We lead our competitors in the delivery of extra care housing for people over the age of 55.

The opportunity:
 
We are looking for a Conveyancing Assistant to join the vibrant Social Housing Sales team ideally based in our Stratford-Upon-Avon office, part of the firm’s Living group.
 
You will work with the team to provide vital support to help our legal teams deliver a high quality legal service to Housing Association clients, assisting with a large variety of sale transactions including shared ownership, ‘right to buy’, ‘Surrender’ and Plot Sales’ Transactions, to name a few.
 
This position will be suited to someone who is looking for an opportunity to develop their conveyancing skills within a niche sector, providing a clear pathway to progress their career. Alternatively, this would also be suitable for someone who is content to be a one-to-one support to a Solicitor, in providing exceptional assistance in a sector that makes a difference to the community.

What you will be doing:

  • Providing timely and effective transactional support to senior members of the team
  • Dealing with Housing Association clients in a professional manner and maintaining close contact,  taking messages and assisting where appropriate
  • Liaising regularly with Housing Associations and providing regular updates within specific timeframes on progress with transactions/disposals
  • Using a case management system to process and progress files
  • Managing file opening, closure and archiving
  • Producing bills and other financial administration
  • Organising and maintaining departmental filing systems and document storage
  • Photocopying, scanning, faxing, printing, filing and other general administrative tasks
  • Accurately producing and amending correspondence and documentation by tracked changes including the use of digital dictation
  • Working to strict deadlines 
  • Maintaining good file management
  • Updating weekly reports
  • Assisting senior members of the team to run a high volume and varied caseload 
  • Handling queries efficiently and assisting with enquiries
  • Participating in group and team meetings in a positive and proactive manner

What you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in an assistant/supporting role, ideally gained from either a social housing or residential conveyancing role
  • Fast and accurate keyboard skills
  • Strong IT skills, to include Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
