Role Title: Data Management Consulting and Strategy Lead

Summary of the role:
As the Data Management Consulting and Strategy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing end-to-end data management strategies for global enterprises. This includes leading large-scale initiatives across data migration, data modernisation, data governance, and data operations, helping clients unlock value from their data and align initiatives with strategic business goals.
You will guide clients through assessment, blueprinting, and transformation of their data landscape, driving improvements in data quality, governance, and architecture. Combining deep consulting expertise with strategic advisory and delivery leadership, you will oversee multi-disciplinary teams delivering complex, high-impact data solutions across industries such as insurance, healthcare, banking, retail, travel, and utilities.
The ideal candidate brings strong commercial acumen, deep domain expertise, and a proven track record in data modernisation, delivery excellence, and business development, with the ability to identify and convert data-driven opportunities into tangible business outcomes.
As a senior leader within the Data Management SGU, you’ll have oversight of a large team and provide direction to Data Management Engagement and Data Strategy Leads driving performance, collaboration, and excellence across the function.
As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
Consulting Leadership
- Lead end-to-end delivery of data strategy and consulting engagements.
- Translate complex business needs into strategic data management roadmaps.
- Design and deliver target state architectures and data operating models (including governance, stewardship, and quality frameworks).
- Guide clients through large-scale data modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
- Define KPIs and success metrics for data management programs.
Client Advisory & Strategy
- Define and lead the data management strategy and roadmap for the services business, aligning with market needs, client transformation goals, and emerging technology trends.
- Act as a trusted advisor to CXOs and senior client stakeholders, helping shape their data strategies and transformation roadmaps.
- Customize solutions and messaging based on the unique data maturity levels and regulatory requirements of each industry
- Facilitate executive workshops to assess data maturity and define future-state visions.
- Drive strategic alignment between data initiatives and business outcomes.
Client Solutioning & Innovation
- Lead cross-industry solution design and pre-sales efforts, collaborating with sales, domain consultants, and technical architects to craft compelling, scalable data management solutions for enterprise clients.
- Identify and drive the development of reusable solutions and IP, including accelerators, frameworks, and reference architectures to differentiate our offerings in the market.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design innovative data management solutions tailored to client requirements.
- Define strategies for data governance, integration, quality assurance, and security to address client challenges effectively.
Build client relationship and expand opportunities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their data needs and challenges.
- Drive new business development, including prospecting, pitch creation, and closing deals.
- Understand evolving data requirements & challenges
- Continuously mine new opportunities to expand the relationship and deliver higher value to clients
- Define policies for effective data collection, storage, analysis, and security. Maintain compliance with legal standards for data protection and privacy.
Thought Leadership & Innovation
- Stay abreast of industry trends, frameworks, and technologies (e.g., data mesh, data fabric, AI/ML enablement).
- Contribute to IP development, white papers, and client presentations.
- Develop methodologies and frameworks that elevate our consulting practice.
Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:
- 20+ experience scaling a data management practice within a global consulting or IT services firm.
- Demonstrated success managing large, complex data programs for Fortune 500 clients across industries.
- Proven ability to solution, sell, and deliver multi-million dollar data engagements.
- Ability to oversee the technical aspects of data value chain
- Understand data ecosystem – data strategy aligning with business goals, data governance, quality, medallion architecture, and so on
- Oversee the design and implementation of modern data platforms
- Experience with the key elements of data lifecycle while designing and recommending data solutions to clients:
- Scalable Data Architectures
- Integration of various data sources, ensuring that data is collected, processed, and made available in a structured manner.
- Data Security and Compliance: Ensure that data systems comply with relevant security and privacy regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, etc., and are secure from threats.
Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in winning and delivering accounts within the data management domain or similar industries.
- 20+ years of experience in data-related project delivery, including 10+ years in a leadership or delivery management role.
- Strong knowledge of data engineering, data warehousing, data lakes, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and data governance frameworks.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, and/or hybrid project management methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
