WORK LOCATION:  Grand Rapids - Lettinga Campus

DEPARTMENT:  Dining Services

PAY RATE: $12.50-13.00 PER HOUR

SUMMARY:

This position will maintain dining’s social media accounts, make sure daily menus are posted, and do various design work upon request. Applicants should be willing to take on new tasks as they are assigned and learn how to accomplish them on their own. They will receive support from the Dining Services to be successful.  These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University’s mission, vision and cultural values.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Must maintain a high level of presentation, enthusiasm for customer service and provide professional, courteous, and pleasant attitude toward all coworkers, students and staff.
  2. Adhere to the Davenport University Code of Conduct.
  3. Work with Dining Services Supervisors and staff to provide customers with the best service and quality product.
  4. Follow the sanitation requirements of food services and Kent County Health Department.
  5. Do dishes and cleaning projects as assigned by supervisors.
  6. Efficiently operate a cash register and credit card machine when needed.
  7. Perform inventory management duties when needed.
  8. Food production and preparation.
  9. Prepare concession food for customers during events.
  10. Be able to answer customer requests for information.
  11. Handle documents while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  12. Clean the area when events are complete.
  13. Post daily menus, online and in paper
  14. Maintain DU Dining social media pages
  15. Record trafficking data in google spreadsheets.
  16. Design and print posters and various documents.
  17. Design and post bulletin boards
  18. Brainstorm promotional ideas
  19. Help set-up and run dining promotions.
  20. Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
  21. Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.
  22. Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student or 3 credit hours as a graduate student while meeting the standards of academic progress.
  • Some food service or coffee shop experience is desired but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to follow directions.
  • Should be able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that transcend diverse audiences; communicating to university customers with positive attitudes toward change, confidentiality, and conflict resolution.
  • Must have dependable transportation
  • Business office/Foodservice environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of computer (eye and hand strain). No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 50
  • Must provide own non-slip shoes (if working in kitchen)
