SUMMARY: This position is responsible for planning and scheduling demand requirements to meet internal and external customer requirements. The Machine Shop Planner coordinates production schedules, ensuring that products, inventory, and parts are allocated efficiently and cost-effectively; working to plan, control, and implement the flow of products, materials, and information.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes customer requirements and internal data to establish the order size relative to capacity and sets priorities for the Machine Shop.
  • Proactively communicates issues and escalates problems to the appropriate personnel that compromise deliveries to production.
  • Identifies material shortages and opportunities for schedule smoothing.
  • Monitors and controls the order process, ensuring efficient and adequate flow of goods.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains processes to reduce costs and increase customer service.
  • Supports Machine Shops goals of quality, safety, productivity, and customer service.
  • Regularly reviews and adjusts SIS parameters to keep the production plan in line with demand patterns and company inventory objectives.
  • Reviews and participates in the scheduling of production operations to ensure support of customer requirements.
  • Prepares and conveys all required reports and correspondence within the Machine Shop and other departments.
  • Participates in the administration and continuous improvement of inventory management metrics, customer delivery metrics, and all relevant requirements.
  • Collaborates on all build ahead programs with sales and operations planning to ensure customer needs with minimum inventory are met.
  • Works safely and actively participates in all safety directives while adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in production planning, purchasing, or relevant supply chain function.
  • Proficient in using ERP software for Production Planning and/or Materials Management.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
