Role Overview
As an FPGA Hardware Design Intern, you’ll work alongside industry experts in an Agile environment, gaining hands-on experience in hardware and software co-design. From day one, your ideas will matter, and you’ll contribute to real-world projects that shape the future of digital systems.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the full development lifecycle of FPGA IPs and systems—from concept and specification to implementation, verification, and release.
Develop SoC (CPU + FPGA) designs for advanced video and analytics applications.
Model and prototype new architectures.
Optimize FPGA-based board support packages.
Collaborate with local and global teams, and occasionally interact with customers.
About the Internship
Duration: 13-month fixed-term placement.
Eligibility: Ideal for 2nd or 3rd-year students enrolled in a degree with an industrial placement year (Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or similar).
Location: Altera Europe HQ, Marlow, UK

Qualifications:
Strong digital design skills (FPGA or ASIC) using Verilog/VHDL.
Programming experience in C/C++.
Scripting knowledge (e.g. Python, Tcl).
Curiosity, self-motivation, and a collaborative mindset.
Excellent communication skills.
