Global Services Tech@Lilly (GS T@L) is a crucial tech function within the Tech@Lilly enterprise, alongside Digital Core (formerly GIS) and Information Security. It plays a vital role in addressing business pain points by leveraging advanced technology solutions. GS T@L empowers various business areas under Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) and ERP Services sub-functions to efficiently serve their stakeholders.

Job Title: Intern - Data Engineer 

Qualification and Eligibility criteria: Bachelor’s degree 

Location: India – Bengaluru 

Role Summary: 

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring efficient data flow and storage while adhering to governance and security standards. This role involves working with big data, cloud technologies, ETL tools, and DevOps practices to optimize data infrastructure, automate workflows, and enhance system performance. The Data Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business intelligence, analytics, and data-driven decision-making. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Design, build, test, and deploy high-performance, scalable data pipelines in AWS, following modern data Lakehouse architecture: 

  • Ensure optimal storage, retrieval, and processing of data. 

  • Meet data integrity, security, and privacy standards. 

  • Implement automation for error detection, root cause identification, and recovery. 

  • Create reusable components to accelerate enterprise data delivery. 

  • Automate data ingestion, transformation, and processing while optimizing system performance. 

  • Integrate DevOps best practices for seamless deployment, version control, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD). 

  • Integrate data from different sources, ensuring high accuracy. 

  • Conduct comprehensive system testing and resolve defects effectively. 

  • Discuss impediments and risks promptly to support pipeline delivery and supportability. 

  • Conduct unit testing to ensure data integrity and author validation documents for compliance. 

  • Collaborating with Data Architects, Data Scientists, and working with global business and IT groups to understand the enterprise infrastructure and multiple source systems. 

  • Participate actively in SAFe Agile ceremonies to ensure timely, quality pipeline delivery. 

  • Stay informed on industry tools and technologies relevant to robust data pipeline development. 

  • Responsible for creating and updating Computer System Validation (CSV) documentations.
