Yellowstone Forever (YF) is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park (YNP). Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone National Park through education and philanthropy. YF connects people to Yellowstone through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support of the park and philanthropic investment in its future. Our educational programming and products help people enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wildlife, natural wonders, and cultural history of the park. YF’s operations include Park Stores in and around Yellowstone; educational programming including the Yellowstone Forever Institute and Yellowstone Tribal Heritage Center; and a support program which raises funds for priority park projects.

 

The IT Administrator will be an experienced IT generalist, responsible for deploying, maintaining, securing, and supporting a broad range of technologies. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, the IT Administrator will maintain business, operational, and security systems in support of all Yellowstone Forever departments. The position will participate in deployment, configuration, maintenance, and security of endpoints, mobile devices, retail systems, cloud services, on-premises servers (physical and virtual), and network infrastructure in Bozeman, Gardiner, and Yellowstone National Park.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represent Yellowstone Forever and its mission accurately and positively!



  • Server/Cloud Administration
  • Maintain Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID deployment and security
  • Deploy, maintain, and secure Microsoft Azure virtual servers, networks, and services.
  • Deploy, maintain, and secure on-premises and cloud-based (Windows/Linux) servers, network, and security infrastructure.
  • Evaluate, patch, and maintain servers and services as necessary to maintain security integrity.

 

  • Enterprise Networking
  • Maintain network switches, routers, wireless access points, and other network connected devices.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution of enterprise network issues.

 

  • Enterprise Security
  • In coordination with the IT Operations Manager, identify, recommend, and deploy countermeasures as part of a multi-tiered security strategy to defend all YF on-prem and cloud systems.
  • Monitor YF infrastructure for security weaknesses and continuously improve security posture.
  • Maintain organizational best practices for identity and access management as set forth by IT leadership.
  • Constantly and consistently educate and reinforce proper security procedures with YF staff.

 

  • Endpoint Administration & Support
  • Act as a backup and top tier for endpoint support (laptop, desktop, mobile, print devices, etc), handling support tickets from YF staff as needed in times of high volume, limited staffing, or to assist primary IT service desk staff with difficult problems.
  • Evaluate, test, and recommend endpoint configuration and security policy changes to facilitate a balance of usability and security.
  • In coordination with other IT staff, develop and implement end-user training plans as appropriate for introduction of new IT-driven applications, features, or security requirements.
  • Assist with onboard/offboarding of Yellowstone Forever staff.

 

  • Business Continuity
  • Regularly supplement IT service desk operations to ensure timely support of all Yellowstone Forever operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT Operations Manager, occasionally taking on higher-level responsibilities or projects.
  • Serve as a bridge between frontline support and IT leadership, ensuring knowledge transfer and operational resilience.
  • Monitor and respond to IT infrastructure outages to maximize uptime.
  • Author and maintain pristine technical documentation.
  • Other tasks as assigned, including occasional evening or weekend work



Basic Qualifications: 

  • AA or technical degree in Information Technology or related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience in enterprise server, network, and security administration, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Service-oriented mindset with an ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to take direction, but able to function independently as required.
  • Proven ability to implement, maintain, and document highly technical configurations, and procedures.
  • Extensive experience with multiple core Microsoft technologies (e.g., Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Hyper-V, Azure, Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Advanced skillset in deploying and maintaining Windows Server, Active Directory domains, Entra ID and associated servers and services.
  • Advanced skillset in deployment, security, and maintenance of enterprise networks (802.3, 802.11, 802.1x, 802.1q, etc.).
  • Experience in the deployment and maintenance of authentication mechanisms and security of information systems.
  • Expert experience in deploying and supporting endpoints in a Microsoft-centric enterprise.
  • Advanced knowledge of integrating and securing new on-prem and cloud technologies.
  • Desire and initiative to learn new things in a rapidly changing technology landscape.
  • Ability to communicate, both written and verbally, technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Network+ and/or Security+ certifications, or equivalent experience (firewalls, routing, switching).
  • Experience and intuition supporting and maintaining a wide range of desktop and cloud-based applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune EDM/MDM (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android).
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams phones.
  • Experience with tools for streamlining configuration and maintenance (e.g. PowerShell)
  • Experience with some Linux and other open-source technologies.
  • Experience working in a process-based IT department (e.g. ITIL)
  • Related vendor-specific experience: Microsoft 365 ecosystem, Microsoft Azure IaaS, Ubiquiti UniFi ecosystem, Veeam Backup & Replication, Starlink, Dell, Apple.
  • A passion for supporting Yellowstone National Park!



Compensation:

This is a full-time non-exempt position which will be based in Bozeman or Gardiner. Travel between the offices and throughout the park may be required. Salary is based upon experience.
