Position Summary

The Human Resources Administrator will manage and support all aspects of the employee experience, from recruitment and onboarding to performance development and employee engagement. This role also leads internship program coordination, employee events, and external engagement opportunities that strengthen our organizational presence.The HR Administrator ensures HR operations are efficient, compliant, and mission-aligned while championing diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization.


Employee Lifecycle & HR Operations

  • Manage end-to-end HR administration, including onboarding, personnel files, and HRIS data integrity.
  • Draft offer letters, prepare employment documents, and process employee status changes.
  • Oversee benefits administration from start to finish, including open enrollment, troubleshooting issues, and partnering with vendors to ensure streamlined processes and effective resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Recruitment, Internships & Rentention

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment, including posting jobs, screening applications, and scheduling interviews.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
  • Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and support workforce planning.
  • Coordinate and manage internship requests and placements, serving as a liaison between interns, supervisors, and academic partners.

Employee Relations & Development

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations.
  • Support performance management processes, investigations, and conflict resolution.
  • Coordinate training and professional development programs to enhance staff skills and growth.
  • Participate in and provide leadership to internal committees that support organizational goals.

Culture, Engagement & Ambassadorship

  • Promote organizational values and an inclusive, mission-driven workplace culture.
  • Organize and plan staff engagement events to strengthen morale, recognition, and community.
  • Represent Bergen’s Promise at ambassadorship and community events, helping to showcase the organization’s mission and culture.
  • Cultivate and maintain vendor relationships for event participation, contributions, and sponsorships.
  • Lead HR projects that enhance engagement, recognition, and well-being.
  • Prepare HR reports and data insights for leadership decision-making.


Requirements

 Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment, internship coordination, benefits administration, and employee relations.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
