Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented professional interested in playing a pivotal role in securing resources and sharing the mission of the Black Cultural Zone CDC?

Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation (BCZ CDC) is seeking a Fund Development & Communications Coordinator with a demonstrated track record in administrative support, excellent writing, and stakeholder relations.

This role focuses on the demanding aspects of fund development, grants, and external communications, allowing this coordinator to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. This position is vital for advancing BCZ CDC's mission to unapologetically center Black arts, culture, and economics in East Oakland and to guide the organization toward sustainability and maximizing its mission impact. We are seeking someone who is connected to and has a love for the East Oakland community. WHAT YOU'LL DO

As the Fund Development & Communications Coordinator, you will be responsible for a comprehensive range of fundraising, grants, and external communications functions, ensuring the financial vitality and visibility of BCZ CDC.

  • Fund Development & Grants: Prioritize fund development activities, meetings, and travel on your calendar. This includes supporting the coordination of grant proposals and providing administrative support for maintaining donor records and tracking interactions. You will also assist in drafting correspondence, reports, and grant proposals.
  • External Communications & Collateral: Manage inbound media and speaking requests. This person will create materials such as initiative briefs, one-pagers, presentations, and other forms of communication or collateral. They will also coordinate the preparation of fundraising materials and messaging in collaboration with the marketing and communications team.
  • Data & Reporting: Maintain donor and submission databases, ensuring accurate and secure records. This includes generating regular reports on fundraising progress and donor engagement.
  • Event Coordination: Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and special events.
  • Concierge: Serve as the primary concierge for all inbound communications, media requests, and outreach from funders or partners.

Qualifications


 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for this role is an excellent writer and communicator with meticulous attention to detail and a passion for mission-driven work.

  • Education & Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in a coordination, administrative, or project support role within fundraising, development, communications, or public relations is required.
  • Specialized Knowledge: The role requires demonstrated experience with database management (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar CRM) for tracking contacts and generating reports. Proven ability to draft professional correspondence, synthesize complex information, and assist with grant language is essential. Knowledge of the non-profit fundraising cycle is highly desirable.
  • Abilities: You must have high-level professionalism and exceptional relational skills to serve as the initial point of contact for high-level partners, funders, and media. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. You must also be highly organized, self-disciplined, and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. The salary for this role is  $66,560.

As a part-time employee of BCZCDC, you will be eligible for:

  • Paid Sick Leave (accrues at a rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked up to 80 hours per year) after 90 days of employment 
  • Retirement Plan via CalSavers Program
