The Graduate Admissions Counselor recruits and guides prospective students through the enrollment process for graduate programs at the Webster Groves campus. This involves recruiting students, evaluating applications, communicating program information, and working with other university departments to ensure a smooth transition for inquiry to matriculation. The counselor must be familiar with successful recruitment practices and must have a naturally enthusiastic and persuasive manner to recruit and convert graduate students to enroll at Webster University. The counselor also assists with admissions-related file processing and supporting the admissions operations to increase graduate student enrollment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge of admission policies, recruitment principles/practices, as well as, University academic policies. Counsel students and the general public regarding admission policies and procedures, including Financial Aid information. Stay current of University programs, policies, and procedures.
- Develop recruitment strategies for targeted areas; recruit prospective students by arranging and visiting college campuses, and attending college/recruitment fairs; facilitate University campus visits; assist with recruitment mailings.
- Conduct follow-up contacts with prospective students; assist students with questions regarding admissions policies, procedures, and University programs.
- Conduct outreach campaigns via phone, emails, text, and social media to build admissions funnel and ultimately enroll.
- Maintain and update prospective student information in the CRM system (SLATE).
- Recruit prospective students by attending professional functions sponsored by universities, corporations, national recruitment fairs, and other organizations.
- Assist with student recruitment events such as open houses, information night(s), student orientation, and fall/spring visitations.
- Evaluate prospective students’ academic profile for admission into the University.
- Partner with faculty and department chairs to understand and articulate the details of specific graduate programs
- Contribute to the development of marketing and recruitment materials
- This position requires active participation in creating new strategies to meet graduate enrollment goals.
- Represent the university in a positive and professional manner.
