The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is seeking an Office Associate for its Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesiology (OMFS). OMFS offers a full scope of surgical techniques for a variety of problems of the face and mouth. Many of our faculty surgeons have particular expertise in select sub-specialties, including temporomandibular disorder, nerve repair, orthognathic surgery, and cleft lip and palate repair.


The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.


Responsibilities include:

  • Functions as an integral member of the Oral Surgery care team; providing service to our community, doctors, students and fellow colleagues.

  • Greet incoming visitors and customers professionally and provided friendly, knowledgeable assistance.

  • Coordinates patient scheduling, check-in, check-out and payments for billing.

  • Check patient insurance, demographic and health history to keep information current.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, objectives and communication goals.

  • Adhered to strict HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy. Provide feedback for process improvements.

  • Assist with new staff training and development.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Hiring Range: $18.37 - $23.99

Required Screenings: This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.

Physical Requirements: Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions. This position requires sustained periods using a keyboard and performing other computer work. Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

Required: High School diploma or GED; 2 years relevant experience in a dental or medical office is required; 2 years of computer experience with Microsoft Office along with the ability to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex. Minimum of six months or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Desired: 4-6 years of relevant experience; knowledge of dental terminology and dental practices and procedures; Ability to multi-task and effectively communicate with a diverse population of customers; detail oriented; customer service experience with direct patent interaction.
