We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead AutoCAD Drafter to oversee drafting operations for our manufactured housing division. This role is responsible for producing and managing accurate construction drawings, coordinating with cross- functional teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and building codes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in AutoCAD, modular or manufactured housing design, and team leadership. This role will report to our Engineering manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the drafting team in the creation of detailed construction documents for manufactured homes.
  • Develop and maintain standardized drawing templates and CAD libraries.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with HUD, IRC, and other applicable codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
  • Review and approve drawings before submission to regulatory agencies or production.
  • Train and mentor junior drafters, providing guidance and quality control.
  • Manage drawing revisions and document control processes.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to improve product quality and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for integration of third-party components into designs.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in AutoCAD drafting, with at least 2 years in manufactured or modular housing.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, especially HUD and IRC.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D); Revit or other BIM software is a plus.
  • Experience with structural, electrical, and plumbing layouts.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership experience in a drafting or design team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials used in modular construction.
  • Experience with permitting and regulatory submittals.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
