Position Summary:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis (BGCM) is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and mission-driven Workforce Development Coordinator to lead and manage the daily operations and strategic growth of the Technical Training Center (TTC). This position plays a critical role in the success of our youth by overseeing staff and program areas in Welding, Logistics, Culinary Arts, and STEM, while managing certification pathways, professional partnerships, and career readiness initiatives.
The Workforce Development Coordinator will work closely with community stakeholders, industry professionals, and educational institutions to ensure that TTC youth are prepared to enter the workforce with the skills, confidence, and credentials needed to succeed.
Requirements
Program Management & Oversight
- Lead the day-to-day operations of all TTC vocational programs, including Welding, Culinary Arts, Logistics, and STEM.
- Supervise and support full-time and part-time TTC instructors and program staff, ensuring effective instruction, student engagement, and adherence to curriculum standards.
- Develop and maintain schedules, calendars, and rosters for all training programs, coordinating across multiple program areas.
- Ensure alignment of all programs with industry standards and best practices for workforce development and youth training.
Certification & Career Pathways
- Manage and track industry-recognized certification programs (e.g., OSHA-10, ServSafe, AWS Welding, Forklift Certification, etc.).
- Support students in achieving certifications, internships, and employment placement by maintaining accurate records and providing guidance.
- Collaborate with school counselors, workforce boards, and external agencies to align training programs with student career goals and industry demands.
Staff Supervision & Development
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate full-time and part-time TTC staff and instructors.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, provide coaching and professional development, and ensure accountability for program outcomes.
- Promote a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the TTC staff.
Partnership & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain partnerships with local employers, trade associations, post-secondary institutions, and workforce development agencies.
- Coordinate guest speakers, employer panels, mentorships, internships, and job shadowing opportunities.
- Represent BGCM and the TTC in community workforce coalitions and at industry events.
Strategic Development & Reporting
- Assist the TTC Director in identifying opportunities for program growth, innovation, and funding.
- Support grant writing and reporting by providing data, success stories, and measurable outcomes.
- Develop and monitor performance metrics for each TTC program area; prepare regular reports on student outcomes and program impact.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Workforce Development, Public Administration, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of management experience, preferably in workforce development, career and technical education, or nonprofit program leadership.
- Experience managing staff and overseeing multiple vocational programs or departments.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of workforce development practices, credentialing, and youth employment strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build professional partnerships and engage community stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and data management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of regional labor market trends and local workforce needs.
- Experience working with at-risk or underserved youth populations.
- Bilingual (Spanish or other language) is a plus.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Primarily based at the Technical Training Center, with occasional travel to partner sites, schools, or community events.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. and navigate a multi-space facility including workshops and kitchens.
