SUMMARY:
This position involves a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems. Responsibilities include:
- Operating a wastewater analysis laboratory
- Maintaining wastewater collection and pre-treatment systems
- Operating and maintaining full wastewater treatment systems
- Collecting samples for analysis in compliance with EPA, state, and health department regulations
- Performing chemical analyses both in and out of the laboratory
- Adjusting systems based on chemical analysis results to ensure regulatory compliance
- Performing mathematical calculations using basic algebra and a calculator
- Completing computerized reports and compiling information for monthly reports required by permits, state authorities, EPA, or corporate management
- Utilizing basic organizational, mechanical, and electrical wiring skills
- Communicating operational status to upper management
- Maintaining operations logs
- Performing maintenance on equipment, operating a spotter truck and/or forklift
- Groundskeeping, painting, and general housekeeping
- Performing other duties as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: 1+ years of wastewater experience preferred
- Computer Skills: Basic skills with knowledge of Word and Excel
- Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical
- Certification:
- Must complete a storm water training program selected by site management within thirty days
- Must complete "Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume I" and "Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume II" correspondence courses through California State University Sacramento within twelve months
- Must obtain the lowest grade certification program within twelve months or in accordance with state regulations
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Required to obtain higher levels of certification and training up to Level A at this facility
- Must meet and maintain minimum qualification levels as required by state regulations
- Physical Requirements:
- Lifting heavy objects (50-75 pounds)
- Climbing and/or descending stairs or ladders
- Working in unsanitary conditions and with hazardous chemicals
- Supervisory: None
- Travel: 1 to 2 trips per year
