Join Our Team as a Teacher Assistant Substitute!
Location: Berwick, PA
Schedule: Typically, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM (Part-Time)

Are you passionate about early childhood education and making a positive difference in the lives of young children? We’re looking for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Head Start team as Teacher Assistant Substitutes!
In this essential role, you’ll work alongside a team of educators to create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment where children can grow, explore, and thrive.
What You’ll Do
As a Teacher Assistant Substitute, you’ll:
- Support teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
- Interact positively with children to promote their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy, and organized classroom environment.
- Step into the lead role in the teacher’s absence.
- Communicate daily with parents and staff to support each child’s development.
- Maintain accurate records such as attendance, assessments, and progress notes.
- Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies.

A Few More Details
- This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position under the supervision of the Education Manager and team.
- Travel is generally not required but may occasionally occur.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Option 1: High school diploma/GED + 30 college credits in early childhood education or related fields.
- Option 2: High school diploma/GED + 15 college credits in relevant fields + 1 year of experience working with children.
- Option 3: High school diploma/GED + 2 years of experience working with children.
Plus:
- Passion for working with young children.
- Team-player mindset and a positive, professional attitude.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a physical exam and background checks.
