Location: Berwick, PA
Schedule: Typically, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM

About the Position
As a Teacher Substitute, you’ll step into the classroom when regular teachers are unavailable, providing high-quality instruction and maintaining a nurturing learning environment. You’ll collaborate with teacher assistants, support staff, and families to help children reach their full potential.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for children.
- Complete developmental screenings and assessments.
- Supervise and mentor classroom support staff, student teachers, and volunteers.
- Foster strong family partnerships through regular communication and home visits.
- Create a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required reports.
- Support Head Start goals, curriculum, and child development strategies.
- Represent Head Start positively within the community.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and engage in active play with children.
- Regularly bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and reach overhead.
- Must pass a physical exam and background checks.

Requirements
We’re hiring for Teacher I and Teacher II levels based on education:
- Teacher I: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or related Human Services field.
- Teacher II: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or related Human Services field.
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience working with young children.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
