Job Summary:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Supervises, coordinates, designs, and delegates activities and staff functions to meet program priorities. Plans and delivers public health nursing services to individuals, families, and communities. Applies systems-level thinking to assess the potential needs, opportunities, and inequities within the community to promote health and wellness.

Job Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under direction of the Public Health Director, provides care and health education for communities.
  • Analyzes data to evaluate effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of population-based health services and resources.
  • Liaises with other local organizations such as coalitions, health departments, health care delivery organizations and/or schools in order to promote the health of the population.
  • Promotes and supports the development of programs, policies and services that provide interventions that improve the health status of populations.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Performs work under minimal supervision.
  • Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Acts as a lead or first-level supervisor.
Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school in Nursing. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • RN licensure.
  • At least 4 years of nursing experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Must possess the knowledge of and accept the responsibility to adhere to Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act.
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
  • Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Must possess a license as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or possess a multistate RN license accepted by the OBN, no substitutions. Must maintain license throughout employment.
  • Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation.
  • Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
