ABOUT THE JOB!

The Technical Document Specialist works closely with and assists the engineering team to create drawing and ECO’s and manages the release, change and obsolescence of engineering controlled and related external documents. The individual creates and updates models and engineering drawings to support new product development, cost reduction initiatives, quality improvements and existing product enhancements. The Technical Document Specialist manages the library of internal and external specifications & drawings and supports the processing of scanned data for external customers.


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

The individual shall possess a high school or General Education Degree (GED) diploma supplemented by a CAD / drafting degree from a technical school, or an AS degree in CAD and industrial drafting technology. Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • The individual shall possess one to two years engineering document control background and/or a combination of training and experience in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).
  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis on technical (2D and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Product Data Management (PDM) and business (word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, database, and electronic mail) applications.
  • Ability to create, read and understand engineering drawings with expertise in the area of basic engineering drafting practices, principles, standards, and conventions (ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14-100, ASME Y14.24, ASME Y14.35, ASME Y14.34, DOD-100, and Global design/drafting standards).
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, results-driven and possess strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Capable of completing basic mathematical calculations
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple projects prioritize daily activities, and produce consistent, accurate timely work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Be engaged in project meetings and design reviews with the project engineers

Configuration Management

  • Prepare ECOs based on input from the project engineer.
  • Oversee the release of all controlled engineering documents (drawings, specifications, etc.) using engineering software
  • Oversee the release of changes to all controlled engineering documents using engineering software
  • Maintain and file master documents (specifications, ECOs, ECRs, reports, drawings, etc.) as required
  • Prepare and maintain tracking metrics for documents, including but not limited to, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and drawings
  • Serve as backup to the CCB facilitator
  • Order specifications, standards, and manuals when requested

Engineering Technical Support

  • Processes pilot fit facility (PFF) scan data for the milling of custom helmet liners
  • Update internal engineering documents (ATP, OMM, MD, QTR, etc.)
  • Create ECR’s, ECO’s and SolidWorks CAD drawings

Other

  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established company ISO 9001/AS 9100 procedures and work instructions.
  • Complete other duties as directed by management.
