We Go Beyond:

At Beyond, we believe that everyone should “Be You!”. Beyond is a community that upholds a culture of understanding, acceptance, and respect. Our goal is to foster a more inclusive environment where every employee visibly demonstrates inclusive behaviors and respect for individuals.

Company: Bed Bath & Beyond (Beyond, Inc.)

About the role
Own the intelligence behind our product catalog—taxonomy, attributes, and relationships—and partner with AI/ML teams to improve findability, relevance, and content quality. You’ll combine AI product thinking with library science, ontology/semantic design, and strong data fundamentals to make our catalog cleaner, smarter, and easier to shop.

What you’ll do

  • Translate business goals and catalog pain points into PRDs, user stories, and lightweight roadmaps spanning taxonomy, attributes, enrichment, and AI-powered quality checks.
  • Act as product owner for the catalog intelligence team: prioritize the product backlog; write user stories with acceptance criteria; uphold Definition of Ready/Done.
  • Run Agile ceremonies: lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, demos/reviews, and retros; track velocity and unblock dependencies with Eng/Data/Scrum Master.
  • Ontology & taxonomy stewardship: wok closely with the taxonomists to define and evolve category trees, attribute schemas, controlled vocabularies, synonym/alias dictionaries, and variant/option models; set governance rules.
  • Knowledge graph & semantic design: partner with data science/development to model entities (brands, products, categories, attributes, media), relationships, and constraints; inform relevance/ranking signals and downstream personalization.
  • Data quality & catalog health: specify automated checks for attribute completeness, consistency, and policy compliance; design workflows for deduplication, entity resolution, canonicalization, and enrichment.
  • AI-enabled catalog features: scope LLM/ML use cases (attribute extraction, title normalization, image/content quality, similarity/variant grouping, RAG for content); set guardrails and evaluation plans.
  • Measurement & analytics: define KPIs (coverage, accuracy, error rates, search CTR, reformulation rate, zero-result rate, conversion impact); build dashboards and run analyses using SQL, GA4, and BigQuery.
  • Release & change management: coordinate feature flags, canary rollouts, data migrations, and communication to internal teams/partners; maintain clear decision logs and documentation.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: work with Merchandising, Compliance/Legal, Partner Operations, and Search/Discovery to ensure taxonomy and attribute changes land smoothly across experiences.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Library & Information Science (MLIS)Information Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Very strong data skills and data-structure knowledge
  • Proficiency with SQL, GA4, and BigQuery to analyze funnels, diagnose catalog issues, and quantify impact.
  • Clear communicator who can turn qualitative feedback and quantitative findings into crisp requirements and acceptance criteria.

Nice to have

  • Strong understanding of taxonomy design, ontology/semantic modeling, and knowledge graphs(concepts like entities/relations, hierarchies, facets, constraints).
  • SEO and recent AEO
  • Exposure to GS1/GTIN, schema.org/Product, product taxonomy standards, and governance workflows.
  • Experience with knowledge-graph or graph DB tooling (e.g., Neo4j, Amazon Neptune) or graph query languages (e.g., Cypher, SPARQL).
  • Familiarity with vector search/embeddings, RAG patterns, and evaluation methods for extraction/classification (precision/recall, coverage, latency SLOs).
  • Hands-on with experimentation/feature flags, and documentation tools (Confluence/Notion)
