Opportunity:

As an Early Childhood Program Specialist 1, you will be stepping into the entry level of this career path. In this role, you will work under direct supervision and follow clearly defined work procedures and priorities. Your responsibilities will include supporting classroom activities such as recording enrollment, preparing and organizing materials for children's projects, and monitoring activities such as nap times, free time, snacks, and lunches.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3,262 to $4,320 | Range 36 Steps A - M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School graduation or equivalent; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Six (6) months experience in an early learning program serving groups of young (birth to 5) and/or school age children OR equivalent education.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older by time of hire.

  • Must meet the criteria of having 12 aligned college credits in ECE Core Competencies or a CDA (Child Development Associate) within 5 years of hire. See the following links for more information.

  • Must meet and understand the requirements for the following:

  • Satisfactory background check through the Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) at time of hire.

  • Proof of measles (MMR) vaccination, or other acceptable documentation as established by the Washington Department of Health and Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 43.216.690.

  • Negative tuberculosis (TB) test within previous 12 months, in accordance with Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 110-300-0105.

  • Provide documentation of high school diploma, GED, or college credits to DCYF for review and complete DCYF approved Child Care Basics training within 90 days of hire, if required by DCYF.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Washington Food Handler’s Permit within 14 days of employment. 

  • Completion of HIV/Aids Bloodborne Pathogen Training, Basic First Aid or Pediatric First Aid Certification, and Basic CPR and/or Infant/Child CPR Certification within 7 days of employment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Initial ECE certificate or equivalent.
