We value what makes you unique and invite you to join a company that solves problems, drives progress, and delivers meaningful innovations.As a member of the site automation team specializing as Design Technician, you’ll collaborate with operators and engineers to identify manufacturing challenges and develop custom solutions. A key focus will be partnering with engineers to bring their ideas to life, transforming concepts into practical fixtures and manufacturing aids that improve efficiency and safety. Using CAD/SolidWorks, you’ll create detailed designs and oversee projects from concept through fabrication, working closely with vendors to source materials and ensure timely, high-quality results. You’ll review prototypes, gather feedback, and refine your designs as needed, contributing to a safer and more efficient manufacturing environment.
This on-site position is based in Plymouth, MN, within the Global Ops Supply Chain (GOSC) at a manufacturing site supporting the Peripheral Vascular Health business unit.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing and field service operations.
- Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools, such as CAD, CAM, CATIA, ProEngineer, Solidworx or Siemens NX Software.
- Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
- Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
- Design and develop fixtures, manufacturing aids, and custom equipment to support production and automation.
- Collaborate with vendors to source materials and coordinate fabrication.
- Partner with operators and engineers to identify and implement process improvements.
- Ensure all designs meet safety, quality, and operational standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certificate, or Associate’s degree, in a relevant technical field.
- Proficiency in CAD/SolidWorks.
- Experience designing custom equipment, fixtures, or manufacturing aids.
- Familiarity with sourcing, tooling fabrication, and working with external vendors.
- Understanding of cutting tool geometry and applications.
- Ability to read and interpret advanced drawings with GD&T.
- Skill in conceptualizing and sketching tools, fixtures, and gauges.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Requires minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Requires high school diploma, or equivalent.
