Job Description

Western Nevada College is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 4 within the Division of Nursing & Allied Health. This position is full-time and located at our Carson City Campus but may require travel to our Douglas and Fallon campuses as needed.

Responsibilities for this position include providing administrative support to the Director/Division Chair, faculty and students of WNC, as well as liaison with other NSHE institutions, clinical facilities, community agencies and the general public.

This position assists and counsels prospective and current students in understanding the policies, procedures and eligibility criteria required for admittance and continuing education in the Associate Degree Nursing and Paramedic Programs. Additionally, the candidate must be conversant with the policies and procedures regarding Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Phlebotomy and Health Science courses.

This position is also responsible for working with the Laboratory Coordinator to ensure that all students have the correct lab supplies and equipment, this includes the purchasing and tracking of inventory and updating the fixed asset reports; and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR

  • One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with experience with PeopleSoft or OnBase are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 29

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
