Job Summary
In conjunction with the respective Rig Management, the regional Planning Lead/Supervisor shall be responsible for the planning, coordination and reporting of all execution activities for In-Service work and will be the primary interface between the rig’s operations and company’s project management organization.The individual will be responsible for reporting In-Service work progress for all of the rigs in his/her region on a weekly basis.
The role will include but not be limited to the initiation and planning for both In-Service and Out-of-Service events, following the company’s Stage Gate process from the Project Initiation Request (PIR) through Stage Gate 4 and beyond as required.
The regional Planning Lead/Supervisor will also manage any customer driven project requests related to equipment upgrades, repairs and installations. While the corporate project management organization allocates resources to execute the approved initiatives, the regional Planning Lead/Supervisor will monitor and report on the progress of all customer In-Service projects.
Additional duties involve creating and reviewing work packs, collaborating with the Project Marketing Manager and rig teams to perform tender gap analysis, supporting the corporate project management organization by providing quotes from local vendors and providing Lifecycle updates for all rigs within the assigned region.
Job Description
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Responsible as the regional project organization focal point, for both In-Service and Out of Service project communications.
- Manage the interface between the rig/operations management and the corporate project organization, to ensure every effort is focused on achieving In-Service project activities and reduce Out of Service shipyard/project activities.
- Plan, coordinate and report the In-Service activities for all rigs operating within the region.
- Conduct resource planning sessions with the rig operations teams and corporate project organization, to ensure the correct technical/project engineers are identified to execute the In-Service scope and achieve the targeted completion dates.
- Travel to the respective rig/project sites, both offshore/onshore, to oversee the execution of the planned scope and conduct scheduling/planning reviews with the rig operations team.
- Coordinate project planning requirements with other internal departments, as well as other relevant external parties (Classification societies, OEM’s, Shipyards, etc.)
- Prepare and submit all In-Service project progress reports and plans to the rig/operations and corporate project organizations, in anticipation of Senior Management reviews and approvals.
- Participate in monthly budget and financial forecasts/budget reviews, for rigs/operations within the region.
- Participate in Marketing Contract Bid – Cost Workbooks (analysis) for rigs/operations within the region, with a focus on local resource/vendor quotations.
Education:
- Minimum Required: Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or Project Management or equivalent experience.
- Preferred Level: Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or Project Management combined with minimum 5 years project related experience as a key project supervisor or a minimum of 5 years' experience managing major international MODU projects in shipyards. PMP Certification.
Experience:
- Minimum Required: Minimum of 5 years project related experience as a key project supervisor or experience managing major international MODU projects in shipyards.
- Preferred Level: 5+ years major international project management experience with MODU projects in shipyards. It is preferred to have experience in engineering, shipyard construction, project execution and/or operational experience with various kinds of MODUs. Capable of assembling and leading multi disciplined and cross functional teams of up to 20 persons.
Skills:
- Minimum Required: Good knowledge of project management techniques including planning, budget control, contract administration and resource management. Good verbal and written communication skills. Experienced with worldwide shipyards.
- Preferred Level: Expert in project management techniques including planning, budget control, contract administration and resource management. Good verbal and written communication skills. Experienced with worldwide shipyards. Familiar with drilling industry technique is preferable.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have vision and methodology for planning future tasks with particular emphasis on the ability to expediently resolve problems related to project issues (design or technical issues, planning, contract, budget, delivery delays, etc.).
- Working Conditions: The position requires travel and work away from home location, at worksite locations such as onboard rigs, in shipyards worldwide and Corporate Offices. The individual may be required to work more than 40 hours per week, including weekends.
