Vynyl’s technologists, designers and product strategists are experts at system modernization, new product development, and rescuing projects in distress. We use the best cloud-native and AI-enabled tools, and apply a battle-tested combination of Agile, Lean, and design thinking to collaboratively solve our client’s most pressing challenges - and do it right the first time. We often work in regulated industries, such as healthcare, financial services, government and education. Our work helps detect diseases, identify kids who need special educational support, applies AI to support complex legal settlements, helps people access mental health services, and so much more.
The Role
We’re seeking a Contract Product Management Specialist to lead research, requirements, and specification for an RPA application that streamlines licensing and license maintenance for health professionals across all 50 U.S. states. You’ll turn messy, state-by-state rules into clear workflows and testable requirements; evaluate RPA opportunities (what to automate vs. keep human-in-the-loop); and collaborate with engineering, design, and compliance to deliver a safe, scalable solution. This is a contract position. There is a strong possibility this role could become a permanent employee position based on performance and business needs. This is primarily remote with periodic on-site collaboration in our downtown Los Angeles office.
What You’ll Do
- Own discovery & research: map licensing pathways across professions and states (initial, renewal, reciprocity/endorsement, compact pathways), including prerequisites, documents, fees, CE/CEU requirements, background checks, and typical SLAs.
- Define RPA candidates: identify tasks suitable for automation (data collection/verification, form pre-fill, document assembly, payment submission, status checks, reminders) and where human review is required.
- Author crisp specifications: PRDs/BRDs, epics/stories with acceptance criteria, process maps/service blueprints, state-specific decision trees, data models, and audit requirements.
- Evaluate & de-risk solutions: lead build/buy evaluations (custom + RPA vs. COTS), vendor/stack comparisons (e.g., UiPath/Automation Anywhere/Power Automate/Robocorp), and proof-of-concepts.
- Design for resiliency & compliance: plan for CAPTCHA/MFA/anti-automation patterns, rate limits, terms-of-use boundaries, and exception handling. Specify audit trails, consent, role-based access, encryption, and retention.
- Partner across teams: work daily with engineering, design, delivery, and compliance/legal; coordinate pilots with real users; create executive-ready presentations and demos.
- Operationalize measurement: define KPIs (cycle time, automation success rate, exception rate, accuracy, cost-per-transaction) and an evaluation plan for ongoing improvement.
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years in Product Management for digital products (B2B/B2C or platform) with end-to-end experience from discovery to launch.
- RPA & workflow chops: practical experience specifying or shipping automation (web automation, queueing/orchestration, OCR/ID doc capture, exception handling).
- Regulatory/licensure familiarity: experience with healthcare licensure or adjacent regulatory processes; comfort parsing state rules and translating them into implementable logic.
- AI literacy: understanding of where AI can assist (document classification/extraction, verification heuristics, routing) with attention to explainability and guardrails.
- Technical fluency: able to partner closely with engineers (APIs, data models, security, SDLC/Agile) and write unambiguous, testable requirements.
- Communication & facilitation: excellent writing, diagramming, and presentation skills; confident with stakeholders ranging from frontline ops to executives.
- Tools: Jira/Confluence (or similar), Figma/FigJam or Miro for flows, spreadsheets/SQL basics for validation, and familiarity with leading RPA platforms.
Nice to Have
- Experience in healthcare (RCM/EHR/credentialing) or financial services (payments, reconciliation, audit trails).
- Knowledge of interstate licensure compacts (e.g., NLC, PSYPACT, Counseling Compact) and payer/board portals.
- Background in privacy/security frameworks (HIPAA awareness for PII/PHI boundaries, SOC 2 practices), and third-party risk management.
- Mainly remote work: seeking candidates in the greater Los Angeles area to mainly work remotely with some on-site work required, and occasional travel.
Monthly Contract Amount: $10,000 to $15,000
