WVU Medicine – West Virginia University Health System is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Strategic Planning function to support the vision and strategic direction of the organization. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-driven individual to join a dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced team. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Analyst to join our team. This position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with minimal professional experience who are eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
Reporting to Strategic Planning Leadership, the Strategic Planning Analyst will support quantitative and qualitative analysis on challenging projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, accounting, finance, business administration or other related field.

EXPERIENCE:

1. One (1) year experience in research projects, internships, or coursework related to strategy, healthcare, data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.

1. Support Strategic Planning Leadership to identify growth opportunities through independent-led research and analysis.

2. Inform strategy and business development through both qualitative and quantitative market assessments, including market share, service line assessments, financial analysis, and other industry research.

3. Develop presentations that effectively communicate research, dashboards, strategic initiatives, and business plans in a clear and captivating manner for an executive audience.

4. Support key leaders in developing business plans for strategic initiatives.

5. Act as a key liaison for research requests between clinical leaders, hospital executives, and others, and ensure a tight linkage between the organization’s efforts and its strategic goals. Serve as a key champion of the organization’s strategic priorities to internal constituents through formal and informal communications.

6. Demonstrate strategic thinking and effectiveness by identifying future needs and problem areas, developing workable solutions, and following through to action.

7. Evaluate and prioritize strategic opportunities for research and development. Work with IT strategic analytics to ensure effective and impactful analytics and provide business insight into the implications of findings.

8. Partner with Population Health to develop and present research on the strategies required to succeed in value-based care and population health.

9. This role will work with matrixed plan stakeholders to achieve better outcomes, quality, margin targets, operational excellence, and compliance. 

10. Maintains a personal development program to improve professional and business skills necessary for high-level performance within the position. Attends meetings and seminars to maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and applies information as appropriate.

11. Supports Strategic Planning Leadership in project management to plan, schedule, and organize executive strategic planning meetings. 

12. Leads data and reporting initiatives for the Strategic Planning Division, completing ad hoc requests for reports, dashboards, or analyses. 

13. Monitors data against regional and national benchmarks as well as industry-leading key performance indicators and suggests improvements to reach top-quartile industry performance.

14. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is a plus. Ability to adapt and quickly learn other computer applications as required.
